Meet Dr. Sperling
Arthur L. Sperling, D.M.D., a native of Boston, Massachusetts, has practiced oral and maxillofacial surgery after completing his training in the greater Boston area. Having spent his undergraduate years as a physics major at Tufts University, he went on to graduate from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Sperling went on to complete his post-doctoral program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Harvard University and his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Sperling served as Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas moving to Connecticut and subsequently settling in South Florida.
Dr. Sperling’s leadership and commitment to dentistry is evident in his active involvement as an educator. He is an Associate Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Connecticut Health Center and has taught at Harvard University and Boston University School of Medicine. He has also been a member of the Executive Committee and senior teaching staff at Hartford Hospital and was section chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Middlesex Hospital. In addition, he maintained staff appointments at UConn/Dempsey Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, Ct Children’s Medical Center and Hartford Hospital where he served on the cranial trauma team. Dr. Sperling is presently on staff at Broward North Medical Center.
Dr. Sperling is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and American Board of Dental Anesthesiology. He is a member of numerous national and international honorary professional organizations including the ADA, Ct Dental Assoc., FL Dental Assoc., the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American and International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. The ACD is involved in ethics’, professionalism, leadership and health care policy. Fellowship in the ACD is by invitation and fewer than 3% of dentists are Fellows of the ACD.
Dr. Sperling has served on the Board of Directors of the Hartford American Heart Association, the Board of Director’s for Connecticare HMO from 1988 to 1999 and on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Health Foundation.
